Coconut Noodle Soup
Troublesome monkeys and the lime children
It is told that when the moon was still in its original hexagonal form, the monkey spirits would trick children into fetching them coconuts by tempting them up the trees with the smell of delicious broth.
Once at the top of the tree and a coconut freed, the monkeys would cast a spell and transform the children into plump limes.
The people plotted to end the spirits’ child stealing ways and so created an even more tempting soup which the monkeys could not resist.
One sip of the coconut and curry soup turned the simian spirits into paper lanterns.
The soup is still made to this day and occasionally catches a monkey spirit before they cause any harm.
